Guardians of the Galaxy in Epic Opening Day

It’s no surprise really that the latest Marvel installment would clean up at the box-office, yet I think many will be surprised by just how much, considering the absence of Marvel‘s top superhero’s the Avengers.

So with an incredible opening day of $37.8 million, Guardians Of The Galaxy has proven its worth in the Marvel and superhero universe as a box-office Titan, having blitzed the opening day revenues of 2014’s other Marvel blockbusters, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Cast from left to right; Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista.

For all those that have seen this unexpected gem, it’ll probably be somewhat of a surprise to learn that this total falls short of Transformers: Age of Extinction and Godzilla, despite scoring much higher on IMDb’s rating scale, where it currently stands within the Top 100 of all-time.

This is however only the first day, and with exceptional reviews continuing to pour in as critics and audiences heap well earned praise on the Sci-Fi epic, it’s likely to earn its spot amongst the highest grossing films of all time.
