In an economic climate that’s seen box-office figures dwindle slightly in recent years, to be named ‘Most Bankable Star‘ in no mean feat, especially for Jennifer Lawrence in an industry that’s still predominantly ruled by male action stars.
Lawrence, who’s had an incredible year with a host of money-making blockbusters, beat out strong competition from the likes of Chris Pratt, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Wahlberg, who all reached the $1 billion milestone.
However, with the third installment of popular Hunger Games franchise now surpassing $600 million worldwide, on top of the $750 million already made by X-Men: Days of Future Past, it’s no surprise the Oscar-winning starlet has taken the top spot with an eye-watering $1.4 billion.
Surprising perhaps to many, 2014 marks the first-time an actress has been named ‘Most Bankable Star‘, clearly showing that a change is a foot in Hollywood – this prestigious list, published every year by Forbes, has usually been dominated by male stars such as Dwayne Johnson (2013), Robert Downey Jr (2012) and Leonardo DiCaprio (2011).
